This piece feels quiet, but it carries a lot within it. The earthy tones and the texture built through the paint create a sense of distance, like a place that exists somewhere between memory and imagination.
The small family in the center is what grounds the whole painting for me. Surrounded by something so vast, they still feel close to one another. It feels like a journey, of moving forward into the unknown, while holding on to each other.
There is a quiet strength in that closeness, even in a place that feels so wide and unfamiliar.
